Harbert Retail Represents Buyer and Seller in Deal Bringing Layne’s Chicken Fingers to Kingsland, GA

Harbert Retail’s Casey Howard and Lacey Scott successfully represented both the seller and the buyer in a $1.65MM deal bringing Layne’s Chicken Fingers to the former Hwy 55 location in Kingsland, GA. This 2,598 SF freestanding drive-thru is strategically positioned along Boone Street and E King Avenue which boasts traffic counts of +23,200 AADT, along one of Kingsland’s busiest corridors. It’s poised to be a prime spot for Layne’s, benefiting from its proximity to a variety of retail establishments along the high-traffic corridor including Publix, Popshelf, Harbor Freight, Planet Fitness, Tropical Smoothie and more.

Founded in 1994 in College Station, Texas, Layne’s Chicken Fingers is a fast-casual chain known for its focused menu of marinated, fried chicken tenders. The “Born and Breaded in Texas” brand serves simple combos featuring crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast, potato salad, and its signature tangy, peppery Layne’s Secret Sauce. While it spent decades as a local mom-and-pop favorite with a laid-back vibe—epitomized by its “Soon to be Famous” motto and Astro Chicken mascot—Layne’s has recently launched an aggressive franchising strategy to expand its footprint beyond Aggieland to the rest of Texas and nationwide.

The Harbert Retail team also recently secured leases/sales for several other former Hwy 55 locations in Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia with companies that include Taco Bell, Wendy’s, and Guthrie’s, among others.
