Harbert Retail’s Casey Howard and Jackie Bell represented the Landlord for 1901 Sixth Avenue in a deal bringing a new Wells Fargo retail branch to the prominent Birmingham office tower. Construction was recently completed in the space and a grand opening held this week. Howard stated, “Our team is excited to have Wells Fargo, a national retail bank, join the 1901 Sixth Avenue building tenant line- up as they fit the retail tenant mix that we’ve strategically put in place as we prepare for the ground breaking of the much-anticipated retail renovation work for the entire ground floor to give it a fresh new look that will both improve design and add value to our tenants and visitors.”
The Wells Fargo branch is the first of many changes to come at 1901 Sixth Avenue, formerly Regions Harbert Plaza. The building rebrand is paired with a complete overhaul of the retail sector. The updated design aims to bring the current outdated retail area into the modern day with clean, polished finishes. The new design will center around warm white colors, indirect lighting sources, light wood textures and polished glass walls. The current mezzanine will be removed to make better use of available square footage above. An open seating area with glass walls will be centrally located in the space, offering ideal seating for informal meetings or a relaxing place to enjoy a cup of coffee before work. The space will be light, bright and inviting, providing a favorable environment for retail tenants, customers and office tenants. Construction to the lobby and first floor is set to start late 2019.
1901 Sixth Avenue is leased by Harbert Retail and managed by Harbert Realty Services. The Harbert Retail team is currently working with several tenants in their pursuit of the remaining available ground floor retail/restaurant spaces and look forward to announcing new tenants soon.
